About Dennathorne Accountancy

Helen Alcock

Helen Alcock is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales with 30 years’ experience.

She trained with national firm KPMG and spent two years with them in Australia. She then moved in to training and spent two years at London Guildhall University teaching for professional exams, followed by six years at the Civil Service College in Sunningdale, devising and delivering short courses for a range of managers throughout the Civil Service. Helen then moved back into accountancy, working first for Mapperson Price in Surrey. In 2003 she moved to Tavistock, where she has worked for Keane & Co, Abacus ABS and most recently Francis Clark.

Over the years Helen has built up a wealth of experience of small businesses, whether they are run as companies, partnerships or sole trades, and covering a wide range of activities, including farming, retail, building trade, consultants, taxi firms and many more.

She has also worked for private clients with complex personal tax returns. Helen provides a personal service to each client. As a sole practitioner, she does not delegate any work but develops a detailed knowledge of each client so that she can help businesses reach their full potential.

The move by HM Revenue and Customs over the coming years to Making Tax Digital will require significant changes to the way many businesses maintain their records and Helen can assist to find the solution most suited to each individual client from the range of options becoming available.

Helen puts her years as a trainer into practice to help clients understand these changes. As a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the ICPA Helen has access to technical support to deal with any unusual queries as well as training materials to ensure she is up to date on tax and accountancy matters.
